Telephone Fraudster scams woman of $12,000

Kamloops RCMP Media Release 2020-41200 December 15th, 2020 A local woman is out $12,000 after falling victim to an elaborate telephone scam The Kamloops RCMP received a complaint on December 14th, 2020 from a victim who claims to have lost $12,000 to an elaborate telephone scam. The victim indicated that she was contacted by someone claiming to be from a major credit card company's head office who requested her help in catching bank employees who were giving out personal information. They also told her she was under investigation for fraud if she had any involvement. She spoke to several different people who claimed to be from the credit card company and she was advised not to call her bank because they may be in on it. The caller went on to indicate that…

Over the past weekend several road checks were conducted in the city resulting in the following infractions being discovered: Impaired Drivers by Alcohol- 11 Vehicle Impoundments - 1 Other Motor Vehicle Violations - 6 We are reminding everyone to plan ahead this holiday season, arrange a ride, and arrive safely. Fire damages home on Willow Street

Media Release Kamloops RCMP 2020-41042 December 14th, 2020 A home on Willow Street has suffered extensive damages but the occupants escaped safely. On the evening of December 12th at 5:46 p.m., Kamloops RCMP were notified by Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) of a structure fire in the 200 block of Willow Street.  When officers attended the scene, they found that the house was engulfed in flames and being suppressed by KFR firefighters. Everyone who was inside the residence luckily was able to escape to safety and no serious injuries were reported. At this time, the cause of the fire has yet to be determined however it was noted by our investigators that just prior to the fire several other homes in the area had reported experiencing electrical power surges. RCMP investigators will continue working with KFR Investigators…

False gun complaint results in arrest of wanted man

Kamloops RCMP File 2020-40672 December 9th, 2020 Tk’emlups Rural – A police response to a firearms incident ended with multiple arrests made, which included the apprehension of a wanted man early Wednesday morning. On December 9, 2020 at 9:30a.m., the Tk'emlups Rural RCMP received a report that a male had been shot with a firearm inside a residence in the 700-block of East Shuswap Road. Front line officers of the Tk'emlups RCMP, assisted by officers of the Kamloops RCMP, immediately set up an area of containment around the home in order to ensure public safety and launch an investigation. Several occupants of the residence were called out one at time and were safely taken into police custody. Suspect arrested in relation to the fire at Thompson Hotel

Kamloops RCMP File 2020-39979 December 4th, 2020 One suspect is in custody after the fire at the Thompson Hotel early Thursday morning.  On the 3rd of December at approximately 01:03 AM, the Kamloops RCMP attended to the Thompson Hotel at 650 Victoria Street to assist Kamloops Fire Rescue with a suspicious fire. Our front line officers conducted an investigation and were able to obtain video surveillance which showed that a suspect had intentionally started the fire before fleeing the area. A description was provided to all front line officers and at 03:20 AM, a suspect matching the description was located possessing evidence that he was responsible for starting it. Kamloops RCMP - Public Service Announcement October 23rd, 2020 Due to a sudden early season snowfall this morning the Kamloops RCMP are responding to several motor vehicle accidents all over the city. We are requesting that drivers please use caution, slow down, and give yourself extra time to arrive at your destination. In particular, intersections appear to have become slick with ice where people are attempting to slow down and stop. Give yourself plenty of stopping distance. Police wellbeing check leads to saving a life

Kamloops RCMP File # 2020-34502 2020-10-22 On October 13, 2020 Kamloops Mounties received a call from a concerned family member indicating that they had not heard from their family member in several months but that he was living in the Kamloops area. The family had important news to share with the man but they had been unable to locate him for some time. They were becoming very concerned for his safety. A Kamloops investigator was assigned this investigation and by conducting several community checks he was able to find the last known address for the man. Kamloops RCMP, File # 2020-35429 Theft of Auto Kamloops RCMP, File # 2020-35415 Break and Enter Kamloops RCMP, File # 2020-35431 Break and Enter October 20th, 2020 In the early morning hours of October 21, 2020 police believe a couple of local suspects were busy using a stolen vehicle to conduct break and enters in the downtown area. The Kamloops RCMP received reports of three thefts within a short period of time and they are believed to be linked. At approximately 6:11 a.m., Kamloops RCMP responded to a report of a commercial break and enter to a business located in the 200-block of Lansdowne Street.
