The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 349 calls for service from Friday Mar. 7, 2025, to 9 a.m. on Monday March 10. Below are some highlights from those reports.
Commercial break and enter

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is investigating two recent break-ins at a hotel on Rogers Way.
Police were contacted on Sunday Mar. 9, 2025, in response to the break and enters, with the first occurring on Mar. 3, and the second on Mar. 7. According to the report, the first one involved a man breaking into the hotel’s office; nothing was reported stolen. On Friday Mar. 7, the office was again broken into and cash and cheques were taken.

Disturbance near the bus loop

Police were called to a coffee shop downtown Sunday evening for a group of youths fighting.
On Mar. 9, 2025, around 5:15 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the 400-block of Lansdowne Street where a confrontation between youths had escalated and one of them became assaultive. The situation was quickly broken up by others in attendance. While officers were investigating, the suspect exited the restaurant yelling and swearing, and was arrested for assault.
The youth was released to their caregiver, without process, once they had calmed down.
Impaired driving collision

A person lost their license for 90-days following a single-vehicle collision on the Trans Canada Highway near Beaton Road.
On Saturday Mar. 8, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP and Kamloops Municipal Traffic officers attended the crash scene, where the driver was allegedly intoxicated. As part of an impaired driving investigation, roadside breath tests were administered, which both registered a reading of ‘fail’, indicating a blood-alcohol content exceeding .08.
The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and 30-day vehicle impound under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Drugs, baton seized

Proactive patrols on the Halston Connector led to a police officer removing illegal drugs and a weapon from the community this weekend.
On Sunday Mar. 9, 2025, around 1:15 a.m., a Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP frontline officer was driving by a gas station when he recognized a vehicle reported to have previously fled from police. When the driver was out of the vehicle, the officer approached him and in doing so, observed illegal drugs. One person was arrested as part of the investigation.
Approximately 18 grams of suspected fentanyl, morphine pills, an extendable baton, and paraphernalia indicative of drug trafficking was seized for destruction.
A notice of driving prohibition was also issued and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Violation tickets for fail to produce a driver’s license and improperly displayed plates were given as well.

Police presence on the North Shore

Multiple police officers responded to the 800-block of Sherbrooke Avenue Friday afternoon, where a person was allegedly making threats and firearms were present.
On Mar. 7, 2025, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Kamloops RCMP Detachment frontline officers attended the residence and arrested a man without incident. Police seized firearms present, most of which were air guns. One person was lodged in cells to prevent continuation of the offence, then later released without process.
