The investigation that resulted in the arrest of two people, the recovery of a stolen and loaded firearm, and the seizure of a shotgun and ammunition, began around 10:20 p.m. on February 15, when a police officer saw a black Mercedes driving the wrong way down Columbia Street. Police attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it did not stop and instead slowed down and continued driving before entering the ‘Police Only’ parking lot, where officers were able to block it inside. On February 16, around 2:35 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to a robbery involving a firearm at a bank on the 1200-block of Summit Drive. According to the report, a man in his 40s or 50s, approached a teller, demanded money, and brandished a handgun. With money in his hands, the man fled westbound on foot. On February 16, around 1:17 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the 600-block of Columbia Street West after they received an abandoned 911 call in which a woman reported being assaulted. Police attended and located the caller, who was allegedly uncooperative and intoxicated. During their investigation, police spoke with another person who reported being assaulted. While speaking with the woman, police officers became concerned for her wellbeing due to her intoxication and behaviour. The woman was arrested for being intoxicated in public, at which point she allegedly resisted arrest before punching and kicking a police officer. She was lodged in cells to sober up safely…

Around 2:17 p.m., February 11, Kamloops RCMP responded to a report of a theft in progress at a retail location on 4th Avenue and Lansdowne Street. A man dressed in camo, jogging pants, and a black jacket with grey hoodie, allegedly stole merchandise from the store and was actively being followed by the person who reported the theft. Police responded and shortly after, a frontline officer called for backup and reported he was injured following an altercation with the suspect. No weapon was involved in the incident. On February 9, around 10:35 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to an address on the 200-block of Victoria Street for a report made by a cleaning crew that an unknown man was inside a building. Police attended and located a man wanted on an unendorsed warrant for theft and failing to comply with an Undertaking. Dustin Joel Poudrier, 35, of Kamloops, was arrested and held in custody for a court appearance scheduled for February 11. On February 6, around 8 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the address and observed an orange residue on the foyer’s wall and floor, which had made it difficult for some people to breathe. Members of the Kamloops RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU), and the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT), joined together February 9 for the quick execution of a search warrant at a Kamloops motel, which ended with the seizure of approximately five ounces of suspected cocaine, 3.6 ounces of suspected fentanyl, and thousands of dollars in cash.
