Kamloops RCMP Detachment Media Release – Weekend Report – March 5 - March 8 March 9, 2021 The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 335 calls for service from midnight Friday March 5, to 9 a.m. on Monday March 8, 2021. Below are some highlights from those calls.   Weapons assault reported on Columbia Street 2021-7040 A man was located with injuries after police were called to a motel room for a report of a stabbing on Sunday. Around 12:16 p.m., March 7, Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the 500-block of Columbia Street West for a report of a man who had been “stabbed in the heart.” Upon arrival, police located a man with non-life threatening cuts on his body. Officer assaulted during unwanted person response

Kamloops RCMP Detachment Media Release –March 4, 2021File: 2021-6379 A call to assist with an unwanted person led to a woman getting arrested and a frontline officer being assaulted. On March 1, around 12:40 p.m., Kamloops RCMP attended an address on the 1200-block of the West Trans Canada Highway for a report of a woman who was refusing to leave and being aggressive. Police attended and spoke with the woman, who continued to refuse to leave. She was placed under arrest and allegedly resisted, biting one of the officers. “The officer suffered minor injury, but is expected to recover fully,” said Constable Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. A 29-year-old woman was arrested and released with a court date related to potential charges, including one for assaulting a police officer.

Police looking for suspects in downtown robbery

Kamloops RCMP Detachment Media ReleaseMarch 3, 2021File: 21-6599 The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is investigating after a business was robbed on Victoria Street this morning. Around 11:12 a.m., March 3, frontline officers responded to a panic alarm at a business on the 700-block of Victoria Street, related to a robbery involving a knife. Two men were reported as stealing cash and a cordless phone from the store, as well as an employee’s wallet and cellphone. Police set up a containment area and, with the assistance of the Police Dog Service Unit, searched for the suspects and evidence. A number of items were located and seized as part of the investigation. TEU investigation leads to drug trafficking, possession charges

Kamloops RCMP Detachment Media Release –March 3, 2021File: 2020-37634 A drug-trafficking investigation from November has resulted in charges against two Kamloops men. On November 9, 2020, members of the Kamloops RCMP Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU) arrested two men as part of an ongoing drug investigation. The men were released with a court date, pending charge approval by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada, which was recently received. Cody Lee Arthur Housego, 26, of Kamloops, is charged with one count of possessing methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Darcy Dean Anderson, 32, of Kamloops, faces four charges: two related to unlawfully possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and two contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada for…

Kamloops suspicious vehicle file leads to weapon seizure in Barriere

Kamloops RCMP Detachment Media Release –March 2, 2021File: SED 21-1086 A suspicious vehicle reported in Kamloops led to an arrest and charges for a man located in Barriere Friday night. On February 26, around 6 p.m., Kamloops RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Kootenay Way. Frontline officers from Kamloops’s rural detachment located the car on Hwy 5 and attempted to stop it unsuccessfully. A police officer with the RCMP’s Central Interior Traffic Services later observed the vehicle at a gas station in Barriere, and with the assistance of a Barriere RCMP frontline officer, the vehicle’s driver was detained, then arrested. Man arrested on Canada-wide warrant out of Kamloops

Kamloops RCMP Detachment Media ReleaseMarch 2, 2021File number: 2019-4436 One of Kamloops’s most wanted has been arrested, thanks to assistance from the Vancouver Police Department. Robert James Rennie, 33, was arrested by Vancouver Police Department following a traffic stop on March 1, around 2:20 a.m. He was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant out of Kamloops for armed robbery, assault with a weapon, and forcible confinement, stemming from a 2019-Valentine’s Day investigation involving four victims. Rennie was one of three men arrested by Kamloops police as part of the investigation. The other two arrested, Michael Mathieson and Justin Daniels, have since been sentenced; Mathieson to 6.5 years in prison, Daniels to 7.5 years. Rennie, who had obtained bail following his arrest, fled from a halfway house in April 2020. He had…

Over the last couple of weeks, Kamloops police have been contacted about scams related to the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), the Canadian Revenue Agency, Covid-19 vaccinations, and Bitcoin. In some cases, residents provided personal information and money transfers. “As tax season ramps up and more Covid-19 vaccinations roll out, the environment is primed for fraudsters to prey on unsuspecting victims,” said Corporal Dana Napier of the Crime Prevention Unit. “It’s very important for people to be vigilant in protecting their personal information.” In mid-February, a Kamloops resident received an email requesting their SIN number and financial information for Covid-19 vaccination registration. Jessica Crocker was reported as missing on February 23, as she had not been seen or heard from since January 1, 2021. Although it is not uncommon for her to leave town, it is unusual for so much time to pass without hearing from her. Youth arrested following North Shore break and enter attempt

Kamloops RCMP Detachment Media ReleaseFebruary 24, 2021File number: 2021-5802 A suspect in an attempted residential break and enter was caught by Kamloops RCMP early Wednesday morning.  On February 24, at approximately 2:53 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a break and enter attempt on the 1100-block of Bentley Place. A person allegedly climbed a garden trellis to access a second-storey deck, before they were noticed and chased off by the home’s resident. While police officers were patrolling the area, a civilian alerted them to a suspicious person who was running down a long driveway on Parkcrest Avenue.
