February 5, 2024 File: Weekend report Feb. 2-5 The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 277 calls for service from Friday Feb. 2 to 9 a.m. on Monday Feb. 5, 2024. Below are some highlights from those reports. Impaired driving, obstruction 2024-3569 Switching seats during a traffic stop landed two people with court dates and Motor Vehicle Act violations. On Feb. 5, 2024, around 1:35 a.m., a Kamloops RCMP frontline officer was proactively patrolling when he conducted a traffic stop on a red minivan with an obscured license plate. As the officer approached, he observed a man in the driver’s seat switch spots with a woman passenger. Both were arrested for obstruction. Check well-being: man arrested 2024-2054 A man reported to be banging on a restaurant window while moaning and groaning ended up in cells to sober up safely. On Jan. 21, 2024, around 11:15 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers and the Integrated Crisis Response Team (ICRT), responded to a request to check the well-being of the man on the 500-block of Notre Dame Drive. Below are some highlights from those reports. Assault downtown 2023-43332 Kamloops police are looking for a suspect as part of an assault investigation from this weekend. On Dec. 9, 2023, around 1:40 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the 300-block of Victoria Street, where a man was asked to leave a commercial establishment, at which point he allegedly assaulted two people outside. Below are some highlights from those reports. Fire on the North Shore 2023-42445 Police are looking for witnesses and information related to a dumpster fire on 7th Street. On Dec. 1, 2023, around 1:30 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to assist Kamloops Fire and Rescue on the 900-block of 7th Street, where firefighters were tending to the remnants of the fire, which also damaged a nearby residence. Motor vehicle incident involving a pedestrian 2023-41131 Kamloops police are investigating a weekend report in which a man was allegedly struck by a vehicle on the North Shore. On Nov. 19, 2023, around 3:40 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers received several reports of a collision on Carson Crescent. Officers responded and located a truck crashed into a rock wall. Below are some highlights from those reports. Columbia Street West police presence 2023-39451 A person was taken into custody following a report of a person with a weapon, experiencing a mental health crisis. Multiple Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended a parking access on Columbia Street West in response to the report, received on Friday Nov. 3, around 10:20 a.m. Police located a woman intoxicated by drugs and took her into custody without incident. A knife was seized in the process. With the assistance of the Integrated Crisis Response Team, the woman was assessed, then released from cells when sober.…

Below are some highlights from those reports. Impaired driving crash 2023-38949 A semitruck and trailer collision on Hwy 5 led to a man losing his license for 90 days. On Monday Oct. 30, 2023, just before 1 a.m., Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP frontline officers were called to a motor vehicle collision in which a semitruck had left the roadway and crashed in the southbound ditch. Two occupants inside were uninjured. As part of the investigation, a roadside breath test was administered which registered a fail reading, indicating a blood-alcohol level exceeding .08. On Oct. 22, 2023, around 7:50 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to Hwy. 1 East near Grand Boulevard, for a report of an SUV that had left the roadway and struck a power pole, causing live wires to fall.
