The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 324 calls for service from Friday Dec. 1 to 9 a.m. on Monday Dec. 4, 2023. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Fire on the North Shore

Police are looking for witnesses and information related to a dumpster fire on 7th Street.

On Dec. 1, 2023, around 1:30 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to assist Kamloops Fire and Rescue on the 900-block of 7th Street, where firefighters were tending to the remnants of the fire, which also damaged a nearby residence. Police conducted patrols, but no suspects or witnesses were located.

Weapons seized during 911 call

Two firearms were located during a police response to 911 calls from a man experiencing what appeared to be drug-induced paranoia.

On Dec. 1. 2023, around 1:55 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to a residence on the 200-block of Larkspur Street for a report of a break and enter, followed by one of harassment. The same man had been arrested around 2:40 a.m. and assessed by the Integrated Crisis Response Team (previously known as Car 40), after he called making false claims while under the influence of drugs.

Police attended the residence again, which is frequented by multiple people. No signs of a break-in were present, but two long-guns were located on a couch. They were seized by police.

Running vehicle stolen

A parked car was stolen after it was left running outside of a store Sunday afternoon.

On Dec. 3, 2023, around 4:15 p.m., police received a report that a 2004 Infiniti G35X was stolen bearing the license plate TT9 59X. According to the investigation, a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban – also reported stolen – pulled up beside the Infiniti and one of its occupants got out and into the car, then drove away as the owner chased after on foot.
