The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 289 calls for service from Friday Nov. 3 to 9 a.m. on Monday Nov. 6, 2023. Below are some highlights from those reports.
Columbia Street West police presence

A person was taken into custody following a report of a person with a weapon, experiencing a mental health crisis.
Multiple Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended a parking access on Columbia Street West in response to the report, received on Friday Nov. 3, around 10:20 a.m. Police located a woman intoxicated by drugs and took her into custody without incident. A knife was seized in the process.
With the assistance of the Integrated Crisis Response Team, the woman was assessed, then released from cells when sober.
Residential break and enter: man arrested

One man was taken into custody after Kamloops police received a report of a man going through yards on King Street.
On Nov. 5, 2023, around 11 p.m., frontline officers attended the area, observed a suspect attempting to hide in a shed, and arrested him. As part of the investigation, officers located a hockey bag and frozen food, stolen from a residence on Williams Street. A set of keys accounted for was also seized. The other items were returned to their rightful owner.

Firearms seized, warrant executed

An investigation into a suspicious vehicle led to police locating a loaded firearm, illegal drugs, and a man wanted on a warrant.
On Nov. 4, 2023, around 5:40 p.m., police located a Chevrolet Malibu with license plates reported as stolen, on the 900-block of 13th Street. Three people attached to the vehicle were arrested. A loaded handgun was seized.
Two of the men were released as part of the ongoing investigation. The third suspect was found to be wanted on a DNA warrant and was transported to cells to have it executed.

Weapons’ threats on the North Shore

A police presence was evident on Yew Street Saturday evening, when officers received a report of a man making threats and stating he was in possession of weapons.
On Nov. 4, 2023, around 5 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended a building where a man was allegedly trying to break down another resident’s door while uttering threats. A suspect was located shortly after, arrested, and lodged in cells. No weapons were observed.
