If it appeared on your parked vehicle last week, there’s a good chance it was actually an Auto Crime Prevention Notice. The Kamloops RCMP and community partners teamed up last week to create awareness and promote auto theft prevention during Lock-Out Auto Crime events throughout the city. On Wednesday and Thursday last week, April 28 and 29, 2021, police officers, RCMP and Kamloops City volunteers, Community Service Officers, and ICBC employees hit parking lots at the Thompson Hotel, North Shore Library, Holiday Inn, Northills Mall, and Fortune Shopping Centre to check on unoccupied vehicles and see how well they did at preventing auto theft. Kamloops RCMP Detachment Media ReleaseMay 6, 2021File: Kamloops 2021-9076 A federal police unit is looking into claims of potential criminality brought forth by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) in late March. On March 23, 2021, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment was contacted by members representing the interest of the TNRD, who presented information they believed may be associated to criminality. “Following an assessment of the information presented, the Kamloops RCMP was able to establish a better understanding of the scope of that investigation and conduct internal consultations surrounding the most appropriate and timely police response in terms of resourcing and expertise,” said Staff Sergeant Simon Pillay of the Kamloops RCMP Serious Crimes Unit. Armed and barricaded man apprehended by police Monday

Kamloops RCMP Detachment Media ReleaseApril 6 2021File: 2021-10595 One person was safely apprehended by police yesterday, after Kamloops RCMP received a report involving an armed and barricaded man. On April 5, around 4:15 p.m., Kamloops RCMP responded to a call at an apartment building for a situation involving a distraught, armed and barricaded man. Frontline officers attended and attempted to de-escalate the situation, before contacting the Southeast District Critical Incident Program Emergency Response Team (ERT) for assistance. The building was evacuated as a public safety precaution. When de-escalation attempts continued to be unsuccessful, ERT deployed a less-lethal intervention option. Kamloops RCMP Detachment Media ReleaseMarch 24, 2021File: 2021-8861 A report involving a security guard allegedly kicking a man on the ground is under further investigation, after video of the incident was recently reviewed. Police initially responded to a report of an assault on March 17, around 5:15 p.m., on the 40-block of Victoria Street. At the time, police were informed that a security guard had been spat at and pushed by an unknown man, resulting in the guard taking physical action. Frontline officers attended, spoke to those present, and patrolled the area. The man was not located. Police were later contacted regarding a video taken of the altercation, which showed an unknown man on the ground being kicked.
