An abandoned 911 call ended with a woman being arrested and a police officer getting assaulted.
On February 16, around 1:17 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the 600-block of Columbia Street West after they received an abandoned 911 call in which a woman reported being assaulted.
Police attended and located the caller, who was allegedly uncooperative and intoxicated. During their investigation, police spoke with another person who reported being assaulted. While speaking with the woman, police officers became concerned for her wellbeing due to her intoxication and behaviour.
The woman was arrested for being intoxicated in public, at which point she allegedly resisted arrest before punching and kicking a police officer.
She was lodged in cells to sober up safely and later released with a court date related to potential assault charges.
