The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 330 calls for service from Friday Jan. 31, 2025, to 9 a.m. on Monday Feb. 3. Below are some highlights from those reports.
Vehicle fire in rural Kamloops

The Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment is investigating a Cherry Creek car fire from this weekend.
On Sunday Feb. 2, 2025, around 6 a.m., police were called to a pullout on Hwy 5 near Sugarloaf Overpass, where a white 2018 Porsche Macan was located on fire. No one was in or near the vehicle. The car was allegedly stolen after it was parked overnight near Parkcrest Avenue and Kamwood Place.

Weapons report: man arrested

Police officers responded to a report of a man screaming there was someone with a gun and ended up arresting a man who appeared intoxicated by drugs.
On Saturday Feb. 1, 2025, around 5 p.m., Kamloops RCMP Detachment frontline officers attended Mount Paul Way near the Red Bridge tape off, where a man was yelling for someone to call 911 – that he was being chased by someone with a dog and a gun. Officers located the man, who appeared intoxicated by drugs, and kept changing his story. Based on the investigation, officers determined the allegation was false.
The man was arrested and lodged in cells to sober up safely and prevent continuation of the offence.
Single-vehicle collision

A man was taken to hospital on Saturday, following a collision down a bank of the Trans Canada Highway near Savona.
On Feb. 1, 2025, around 1 p.m., Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment frontline officers were called to an area just west of Savona, where a driver allegedly lost control of his truck, crossed the oncoming lanes of traffic, and went over a 20 to 30-foot embankment. The sole occupant was taken to hospital with unknown injuries after speaking to police.
