The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 286 calls for service from Friday Jan. 17, 2025, to 9 a.m. on Monday Jan. 20. Below are some highlights from those reports.
Weapons and drug investigation

An intoxicated man in possession of a crossbow had a large amount of drugs on him as well.
On Jan. 18, 2025, just before 10 a.m., a Kamloops RCMP Detachment frontline officer was making patrols near Tranquille Road and Strauss Street when he observed a man walking with a crossbow and arrows. As part of the investigation, more than 25 grams of suspected fentanyl and meth were located.
The man was arrested for public intoxication and the items were seized for destruction. He was released when sober without process. The investigation is ongoing.
Weapons seized

Police were called to a restaurant in Valleyview on Saturday for a report of a person in possession of what appeared to be a firearm.
On Jan. 18, 2025, around 2 p.m., Kamloops RCMP Detachment frontline officers responded to the 1700-block of the Trans Canada Highway East in response to the report, and quickly located a suspect behind a dumpster. As part of the investigation, police found a realistic looking revolver that was actually a lighter.
The item was seized for destruction, along with a large knife that was located on another person nearby.
Disturbance report leads to in-custody

Causing a disturbance and making others feel unsafe led to a man who was allegedly breaching his probation being located by police.
On Sunday Jan. 19, 2025, at approximately 11 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the 200-block of Victoria Street, where they located a suspect in response to a report. During the investigation, the man allegedly refused to provide his name and was arrested for obstruction, as which point he attempted to flee from police, but was quickly taken into custody. A weapon was located in his possession, in contradiction to his release order. The man was held for court.
