The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 381 calls for service from Friday Sept. 20, to 9 a.m. on Monday Sept. 23, 2024. Below are some highlights from those reports.
Firearm located in stolen truck

A suspicious occurrence report led police to a stolen vehicle and loaded shotgun.
On Sunday Sept. 22, 2024, around 11:35 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended an address on the 200-block of Columbia Street in response to a suspicious activity report. On scene, police located a GMC Sierra pickup truck reported as stolen out of Barriere earlier that day. A suspect emerged from a basement window on 3rd Avenue, which was followed by a foot pursuit and struggle. The suspect resisted arrest and escaped.
As part of the investigation, police located a wallet which had just been reported as stolen from across the street, as well as a loaded shotgun. The Forensic Identification Services Unit is assisting.

Police presence in Sahali

Multiple police officers were in Sahali Saturday night for a report involving a man with a knife.
On Sept. 21, 2024, around 11:30 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the 700-block of Notre Dame Drive in response to a request to assist ambulance with the man. He was located nearby intoxicated, arrested for mischief, and lodged in cells, where his aggressive behaviour continued.
He was released without process when sober, following an assessment by the Integrated Crisis Response Team.
Vehicle rollover in Savona

An investigation into a vehicle rollover on Sabiston Creek Road is ongoing following a police response Saturday night.
On Sept. 21, 2024 around 8:20 p.m. Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment frontline officers responded to a report involving a silver Ford pickup truck that had flipped over multiple times before coming to rest on its roof, and leaving its contents scattered across the roadway. A woman associated to the vehicle was located nearby by ambulance; she confirmed two other occupants had left the scene and were okay. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Drugs, firearms seized during traffic stop

Police seized more than a half dozen firearms and suspected cocaine during a traffic stop Saturday night.
On Sept. 21, 2024, around 11 p.m., a Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment frontline officer initiated a traffic stop of a white Dodge Ram pickup. The truck was observed leaving the area of a single-vehicle collision and had several occupants inside. As part of the investigation, the officer located what appeared to be firearms, including modified long-guns and handguns, along with more than seven ounces of suspected cocaine.
The items were seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

Residential break and enter

Police are looking for information related to a downtown break and enter that left a residence in shambles.
On Saturday Sept. 21, 2024, police attended a residence on the 800-block of 6th Avenue, believed to have been broken into sometime earlier that week while its homeowners were away. Contents inside the house were damaged extensively.
