The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 393 calls for service from Friday Sept. 13, to 9 a.m. on Monday Sept. 16, 2024. Below are some highlights from those reports.
Break and enter: suspect in custody

A report of a man smashing windows on Seymour Street led to police locating and arresting a suspect early Monday morning.
On Sept. 16, 2024, around 4:10 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to an apartment building on the 400-block of Seymour Street, in response to the report. As part of the investigation, a suspect who is known to police was taken into custody nearby.
He was held for a bail hearing scheduled for later that day.
Assault investigation

Police are looking for information after a woman was located with injuries Sunday evening.
On Sept. 15, 2024, around 11 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the 1200-block of Summit Drive, when a person attended the fire hall to report a woman was hurt and needed help. Police located the victim who had obvious injuries, particularly to her face, which were non-life threatening. She was transported to hospital by ambulance.
According to the investigation, the victim was allegedly assaulted by a person described as a Caucasian male who was wearing a hat and dark clothing.

Police investigating an assault with a weapon report

A man was taken to hospital after he showed up at a Sahali business claiming to have been assaulted.
On Saturday Sept. 14, 2024, around 3:48 p.m., multiple Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended a business on the 800-block of Notre Dame Drive and located a man who had allegedly been struck by a person with a rock nearby. He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A suspect was described as a man with a dark complexion, dark hair and beard, wearing a blue shirt, camo pants, and carrying a brown backpack. The incident is not believed to be random.

Pedestrian-motor vehicle collision

Police responded to the area of Tranquille Road and Vernon Avenue on Friday afternoon for a report of a collision involving a skateboarder and a bus.
On Sept. 13, 2024, around 1: 15 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the area, where a man riding a skateboard northbound on Tranquille Road was reported to have collided with a southbound bus. The man was transported to hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

Imitation firearm seized

A large police presence was visible at Tranquille Road and 12th Street Friday afternoon in response to a weapon’s report.
On Sept. 13, 2024, just before noon, Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the area, where a group of youths was present and one of them had what appeared to be a firearm. Officers located a suspect nearby, who surrendered a gel soft imitation handgun to police.
Police seized the item for destruction and had discussions with the youth and their parent regarding the incident.
Mischief to vehicles

Complaints of a person throwing rocks at moving vehicles led to police arresting a man Friday morning.
On Sept. 13, 2024, around 9:20 a.m., Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment members were called to the 3000-block of the Yellowhead Highway in response to the reports. A man was taken into custody and later released, following consultation with the Integrated Crisis Response Team.
No charge recommendations were requested by the victims, as minimal damage was sustained.
