February 24, 2021
File number: 2021-5802
A suspect in an attempted residential break and enter was caught by Kamloops RCMP early Wednesday morning.
On February 24, at approximately 2:53 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a break and enter attempt on the 1100-block of Bentley Place. A person allegedly climbed a garden trellis to access a second-storey deck, before they were noticed and chased off by the home’s resident.
While police officers were patrolling the area, a civilian alerted them to a suspicious person who was running down a long driveway on Parkcrest Avenue. Police attended the address and as an officer approached a shed, a person ran out and into the darkness. The Police Service Dog tracked the person back to a residence, where a teenage suspect was identified and arrested.
The suspect was released on conditions and a court date. Charges may be recommended pending the investigation’s outcome.
