October 20th, 2020
In the early morning hours of October 21, 2020 police believe a couple of local suspects were busy using a stolen vehicle to conduct break and enters in the downtown area. The Kamloops RCMP received reports of three thefts within a short period of time and they are believed to be linked.
At approximately 6:11 a.m., Kamloops RCMP responded to a report of a commercial break and enter to a business located in the 200-block of Lansdowne Street. It appears that two suspects, associated to a white mini bus, smashed the glass front door to gain access. Once inside the suspects, who wore hoodies and baseball caps, stole several collectable items with a combined estimated value of over $20,000.
At approximately 9:12 a.m., Kamloops RCMP responded to a second report of a commercial break and enter to a business situated in the 100-block of Victoria Street West. Police believe the same suspects gained entry into the business, this time by prying the front door. Once inside the yet to be identified suspects stole several items including remote controlled cars and a cash register. The value of these items is estimated to be over $25,000 by the business owner.
At approximately 9:53 a.m., the owner of a third business located in the 900-block of McGill Road in Kamloops called to report that their 2006 Ford Mini Bus had been stolen from the parking lot. This mini bus, which had BC license plates
NT 4992 attached, has not yet been located.
“Our investigators believe that the suspects stole the mini bus overnight from the McGill Road area in order to carry out their crime spree,” states Sgt. Darren Michels, Media Relations Officer with the Kamloops RCMP. “We are interested in hearing from any additional businesses that may have been targeted by these thieves and have not yet initiated a police report”
Anyone with any information on the location of this stolen commercial vehicle or the identity of either suspect is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-2477.
