Domestic Violence Situation

Kamloops RCMP, File #2020-35428

On October 21st, at approximately 8:40 am the Kamloops RCMP we called to a local hotel on the 600 block of Columbia Street West to a report of domestic violence situation in one of the rooms. Initial reports had indicated that a female was subject to a domestic violence situation and that there was the possibility of a weapon present. As a result, a heavy police presence was observed in the area briefly while we addressed the situation.

RCMP members made an approach to the room and the male was taken into custody peacefully and without incident. A weapon was located at the scene and as a result, a 32-year-old male remains in custody while our investigation continues.

“We take domestic violence calls very serious and our response is dictated by the information that we receive. I am happy in this case that things came to a peaceful conclusion” said Sgt Darren Michels of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment

This was found to be an isolated incident and there is no further concern for public safety.
