Kamloops Crime Reduction Unit Executes Search warrant in relation to break and enters, stolen property located
On September 1, 2020 members of the Kamloops Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) began an investigation in relation to
recent files of residential break and enters that have occurred in Kamloops. In these break‐ins, thousands of dollars
worth of property were stolen and video of a possible suspect was released to assist in his identification. Through
tireless efforts, members of the Kamloops Crime Reduction Unit were able to identify, locate, and arrest two adult
males in relation to this matter.
Arrested was Shane Mcleod, 21 who is a Kamloops resident. Mcleod has been charged with 14 new Criminal Code
Charges including two (2) counts of break and enter, possession of break in instruments, mischief, and possession of
property obtained by crime, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence as well as multiple counts of
breach of court orders. Mcleod has subsequently been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Kamloops
Provincial Court on September 8th, 2020. The second adult male, also a Kamloops resident, also has Criminal Charges
pending that have been submitted to the BC Prosecution services for approval.
A search warrant was also executed by the Kamloops Crime Reduction Unit on September 2, 2020 at a residence in the
Brocklehurst area, where thousands of dollars in stolen property including bikes, tools, alpine ski equipment and car
stereos were located inside of the residence. Some of those items were stolen from two break and enter that occurred
the same morning.
Kamloops RCMP are wishing to take this time to remind the public to record the serial numbers for all of their property
including, tools, bikes and construction equipment as they are often instrumental in helping police return property to
their rightful owner.
