File: Long weekend report July 29 – Aug 2

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 524 calls for service from midnight Friday July 29, to 9 a.m. on Tuesday Aug. 2, 2022. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Drugs and weapons seized

2022-26593

A check-well being request led to the seizure of drugs and weapons, along with a vehicle impound this weekend.

On Sunday July 31, 2022 around 12:25 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the 100-block of Lorne Street for a report of a man inside a running vehicle, slumped over in the driver’s seat.

Officers attended and confirmed the man was responsive. As part of their investigation, police conducted a standardized field sobriety test and determined the man was impaired. His vehicle was towed and impounded for 24 hours.

Baseball bats, a knife, cash, and suspected illegal drugs including fentanyl, crystal meth, and other controlled substances were seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

Assault with a weapon

A man was taken to hospital following a report of an assault with a weapon on Sunday night.

On July 31, 2022, just before 8 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to a residence on Peter Road, where a man was located with visible injuries consistent with a stab wound. Officers provided first aid until paramedics arrived.

The man was treated for his injuries and later released from hospital. A woman was arrested and released with conditions and a court date, pending the investigation’s conclusion and subsequent charge recommendation and approval process.

Stolen ATV

2022-26407

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is investigating after an ATV was stolen from a backyard this weekend.

On July 29, 2022, just before midnight, a homeowner on the 900-block of Selkirk Avenue was letting their dog out when they interrupted someone stealing their ATV, a green Artic Cat Mud Pro 700. The suspects managed to load the ATV onto the deck of a black Chevrolet pickup truck before fleeing. A red ATV was also observed on the truck.
