Kamloops RCMP Detachment Media Release – Weekend report May 7-10

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 368 calls for service from midnight Friday May 7, to 9 a.m. on Monday May 10, 2021. Below are some highlights from those calls.  

Man arrested in store break and enter


An early morning break and enter to a business led to the arrest of one person early Saturday morning.

On May 8, around 4:21 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended a business on the 2100-block of the East Trans Canada Highway for a report of a broken door and a figure inside. Shortly after attending, police located a suspect outside and arrested him.

Police seized evidence and released the man with a court date, pending the investigation’s conclusion.

Impaired driver stopped on 12th Street


An impaired driver was removed from the roadway early Sunday morning after a police officer noted a truck travelling with its lights out. 

On May 9, around 12:40 a.m., a frontline officer was patrolling the area of 13th Street and Lethbridge Avenue when a truck caught their attention. The vehicle was stopped nearby on 12th Street. Roadside breaths tests were administered and registered readings of “Fail”, indicating a blood-alcohol level exceeding .08.

The driver received a 90-day driving prohibition and 30-day vehicle impound under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Police looking for a pink bike


The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is on the lookout for a pink BMX after a man reported being robbed of it early Sunday morning.

On May 9, around 2 a.m., frontline officers were working on another file when they heard screaming in the area of Fortune Drive and Sydney Avenue. Patrols were made and police located a man who said he was assaulted and robbed of a pink bike. He was not interested in pursuing charges, but wanted the bike back.
