Kamloops RCMP Detachment Media Release – Weekend report April 23-April 26

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 415 calls for service from midnight Friday April 23, to 9 a.m. on Monday April 26, 2021. Below are some highlights from those calls.  

Parties reported at Pioneer Park


Police were called to Pioneer Park multiple times Friday evening for party reports.

On April 23, 2021 around 5:12 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the Pioneer Park boat launch for a report of approximately 75 people who were gathered without social distance or masks. Police attended and located small groups of youths. No alcohol was observed.

Around 6:35 p.m., RCMP were called again to the same location for a report of three large groups of people not wearing masks. Officer attended and found approximately 50 teenagers in the beach area, many of which ran when police arrived. Around 8:30 p.m., RCMP were called back to the area again. Police and bylaw attended, causing the majority of kids to quickly leave. Others waited for their parents to pick them up.

No further reports were received that evening. Additional patrols were requested throughout the weekend. 

Suspicious motor home


Kamloops RCMP received two reports of a suspicious older motor home in the Dallas and Barnhartvale area Friday night.

Around 8:35 p.m., April 23, 2021 frontline officers were called to the 1200-block of Eliza Road for a report of a possibly impaired driver in a motor home with orange stripes. Later, at 9:40 p.m., police were called to the 5000-block of Todd Road for a 1970s beige and orange motorhome with no plate. The vehicle had been parked in the area for the past few nights.

Police made patrols but were unable to locate the motorhome.

Youth reports being beaten, robbed


A youth reported being robbed and beaten after buying cigarettes from three men in a parking lot Saturday morning.

On April 24, around 9:20 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers received a report involving a male in his late teens who had been robbed of items including his cash and phone after being beaten by three unknown Caucasian men, possibly with a baton. The three men fled on foot. They were described as Caucasian. One was between 40-50 years old, skinny, with shades, a black hat and dark clothing; another was about 25 years old with a buzz cut.
